Hi,
First, thanks to Alex for putting together these film simulation profiles. I went from using 1-2 memory slots in my Sony to cursing my camera for not having 30 slots! Really great stuff.
One thing that might be helpful for those us not coming from professional photography is a brief description of the simulations (1-2 sentences). For example, it seems the Simulations PDF includes both Alex's great work targeting the Fuji Film Simulations, but that's combined with say the Kodak film simulations, and a handful which seems to be Alex's own creations (EvPro?, Senova Light?, Oktar?). I'd love to have a bit more clarity on this as I explore them.
For example, there're two versions of the Kodachrome 64. What's that about? Also, I love the look of the Leica Chrome 64. I understand this is neither targeting an existing film stock nor a fuji simulation, but rather Alex's take on the Leica look?
Thanks again for the good work!
On my last trip, in Warsaw, I had the X-T5 then and used Portra 400 ( Fuji weekly ) in the old town. The photos came out great with all the colored buildings and whoever appeared on the photos had great skin tones !
Hi Alex,
Maybe do like Ritchie with his Fuji recipes. He has best recipes for rainy days, winter, forest, seaside, portrait, night, street and so on !
Another way would be to name the best use(s) for each recipe according to you !
Hei there Carlos, welcome to the forum, and thank you for your suggestion!
It's a very interesting idea, the only problem I see so far is characterizing each film simulation in a simple sentence without making it repetitive or boring. Will think about it, and if I can come up with a short and distinctive descriptions for each, I will implement the suggestion, but till then have you checked the Blog?
The Blog is where I showcase as many of the film simulations as possible while talking a little bit about each of their individual characteristic. For most film recipes you will find a vast gallery of images, which will help you better understand how each reacts in different scenarios and what kind of colors you will get with each film simulation.
In the Blog post I usually mention which are original film simulations, meant only for captivating looks straight out of camera, or when they are inspired by real film rolls.
