ive been playing around with some of the film sims and they look great. A bonus is that I'm also learning a lot about light and colour as I'm a total newb when it comes to photography. My one question is how are people managing in camera sims if you do both photo and video?
I have used memory recall for the film sims as recommended by Veres, and they work great with loading the correct temperature and colour balance for the film sim. However, it seems like i would need to use two mem recall slots for each film sim, one for photo and one for video?
Ive tried to load a film sim for video with mem recall then switch to photo mode (photo manual) but the camera changes all the settings to last used in that photo mode. Im using a Sony Zv1. Seems like a limitation of the camera programming?
As I'm a newb, is there something I'm missing? I was hoping i could load the memory recall and then switch between photo and video easily to keep using the same film sim but it seems like the Zv1 wont let me do that.
Any advice appreciated.
You can hit record in picture mode. Save the MR in picture mode and you will be able to shoot Stills and Video in the same time.
Also, if your camera does not have a button assigned to movie recording in Photo Mode, then a simple solution is to manually assign a recording button even in photo mode.
Save. Compose. Have fun!
ive been thinking about this. Given that when you go into photo mode it remembers the last settings you used, we can just load up the relevant film sim picture profile and do the temp/colour adjustment. Then you would just need to correct for white balance when using. I dont think all settings are saved though using this method?
I am also a newbie and would like to have someone to reply and explain to me, how to shoot a movie and how to shoot a photo using this Sony Film Sim. (my cam; RXmarkvii)
