Hey there, I picked up the simulations and the Kodachrome power grade and I just had a few questions about workflow.
I shoot on two cameras—a Sony FX30 and a DJI Osmo Action 5, so I was wondering what the best way to color match them is—should I forego the simulation, shoot log on both and power grade? Shoot log on the DJI, simulation on the Sony and then turn off the film color node for the Sony’s footage in the grade? Something else?
And then once we’re into grading, you mention a node sheet, but that wasn’t included in the Kodachrome power grade (as far as I can see), and you have a bunch of different contrast looks in a folder on your power grade how-to, but there aren’t any I can find on Kodachrome. Is there a specific contrast to Kodachrome that I’m just supposed to micro-adjust or is that missing (or did I just miss it)?
Having a bunch of fun playing around in DaVinci where I didn’t use to, I appreciate all the work you’ve done to set this up. Even without any expertise, footage is coming out far more pleasing in far less time, so I’m excited to learn!
Thanks for this, that's really helpful! But I think I mis-worded my question. It's not that I can't adjust the colors on the image on its own, it's that when I apply the Kodachrome powergrade, the clip is transported to Mordor. Here're some s-log test clips I downloaded and what they look like when I apply the powergrade without making any alterations. I'm so new to grading in general, so I feel like there's some crucial step I'm probably missing, or some first value to adjust to make it approximate Kodachrome and give me something to work with--it's probably my being an amateur but I feel like I'm fighting the powergrade.
