Here are some of my shots from my recent trip to Tenerife. I'm a total amateur who recently put his hands on a Sony RX100 VI and barely knows anything about photography. I was just about to sell this machine for this exact reason (too overwhelming for me) but then I stumbled upon your recipes and it suddenly became exciting and interesting. Many-many thanks for that Alex!
All pictures are straight from the camera and can't remember which recipes I used really 😅 (except for the obvious 'Asteroid City' ones). I think most of them are Kodak Gold / Cinechrome / Portra 400.
Thanks for sharing with us your holiday shots! They are really nice!
Overall I think you did a great job! I would suggest 2 things. Some shots are underexposed. When using film simulations which are based on S-Log or HLG, try overexposing by 1-2 stops, just enough to get a clean image but also preventing highlight clipping. Somewhere in the middle will get you the best results.
Nighttime, I don't recommend using recipes based on S-Log. They get very noisy.
And some shots would be much better if they were straightened.
I highly recommend activating the Level Metering on your Screen so you can easily straighten your camera before capturing the image.
Press up on the Dial Wheel until the levels appears on the screen, like in the image presented below:
If it doesn't appear, then you need to activate the feature inside the deeper menu at Movie Page 7/10 -> Display/Auto Review -> Disp Button -> Activate ''Level''.
Try keeping the ISO as low as possible. With my RX100 VI, I like to keep it at max 1600 ISO if possible, image quality drops harshly after that. It's a small sensor after all, equipped with a lens not a suitable for lowlight especially when you start zooming in.
But all in all, I really like your shots, and I am happy to hear you're enjoying your camera again :D
Thanks! Your contribution is much appreciated!
